Ord Minnett returns to skyline at Grosvenor Place

Sydney CBD

Section 1

Financial advisory group Ord Minnett has inked a new lease for premium office space at Grosvenor Place in downtown Sydney, 16 years after the firm left the Harry Seidler-designed tower.

The group’s move will be just one block away from their existing offices at 255 George Street. JLL’s head of office leasing NSW Daniel Kernaghan negotiated the Grosvenor Place deal, which will see Ord Minnett occupying over 3500 square metres across levels 18 and 19.

It comes as office workers return to the CBD at about 80 per cent of pre-COVID-19 levels, a reflection of the adoption of flexible work practices.

“The complex offers five-star quality and service while creating an engaging, friendly and responsive community. It has proven to be a winning formula when you want to entice your team back to the CBD,” he said.

The Ord Minnett signing is the latest in a flurry of deals at the tower, which span over 5500 square metres. Smaller high-end tenants – such as Aus Merchants, Ethical Partners Funds Management and Omnisure – have driven demand, as well as renewals and expansion of existing occupants.

Grosvenor Place provides 44 levels of office accommodation, with typical 2000-square-metre floor plates, ground-floor retail plaza and car parking for 500 cars.

Designed by architect Harry Seidler, the complex includes The Morrison Hotel and the heritage-listed Royal Naval House and Johnson’s Building.

In November 2020, Dexus sold its half-share in the office tower to China’s sovereign wealth fund for $925 million.
